SCARF receives Application Approval from The Foundation Group, Inc.
Foundation Group approves initial application

Walnut Creek, CA – March 2, 2007

Sherri Tennant Melanoma Cancer Awareness & Research Foundation, SCARF, a cancer awareness foundation, received approval from The Foundation Group, Inc., to assist SCARF in completing the Application for Recognition of Exemption, Form 1023 with the Internal Revenue Service. The application was submitted to the IRS on April 23rd and is currently awaiting the approval of Federal Tax Exception status as a declared 501 (c) (3) public charity.

The Foundation Group drafts By-Laws and approves Business Plan and Prospectus and submits to State and Federal government for approval of public charity status.

About the Foundation Group

The Foundation Group is a consulting firm contracted to assist in the initial process of gaining State and Federal approve in becoming an official tax exempt foundation. The Foundation Group has helped hundreds of applicants complete and submit their application to the government. They do not gurantee a turn around time on the approval process, but set expectations with each client on the timeframes that the approval process might take. The Foundation Group was hired by SCARF President Jim Tennant in January 2007 as the contracted firm to assist in this process. SCARF is a non-profit public charity operating with a Board of Directors helping educate the general public about the prevention, detection and current treatments of melanoma, the skin cancer with the highest incidence of death. The foundation proceeds will help benefit a variety of institutes and treatment facilities across the country.  SCARF’s education will cover all ages of the general public, from middle schools, high schools and colleges, to speaking forums within communities.
